This will be a workshop-like meeting to bring together researchers working on or are interested in vibration isolation and inertial platforms for their experiments.
Environmental vibrations, e.g. due to ground motion and seismic noise, limit the sensitivity of many of our experiments and it appears that many groups are interested in this topic and have different approaches and ideas to tackling this. This workshop aims to bring together all these interested parties to share their ideas, techniques, and challenges. This will allow us to connect with one another and identify areas of overlap between the different groups.
The workshop is currently envisioned as full-day in-person event in Hannover on the 31st of August 2023. This workshop is mostly intended as a kick-off style meeting to introduce ourselves to one another. A rough preliminary agenda will include:
– presentations from the various groups discussing their experiments
– lab tours
– open-ended workshop time to discuss specific problems
– setting up a new student lab based on isolation techniques
