QVLS Quantum Day
The QVLS Quantum Day 2026 is taking place on May 4 at the New Town Hall in Hannover.
This year marks an important moment for the quantum ecosystem in Lower Saxony: the launch of the clusters4future QVLS-iLabs initiative, the approval of two Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) – German Research Foundation Excellence Clusters, the extension of the BRIQ project, and the approval of the QUICS project. Together, these initiatives strengthen both fundamental research in ion-trap quantum computing and the coordination of quantum activities across the region. Since the beginning of the year alone, more than €170 million have been committed to quantum technologies across research and industry collaboration.
And yet, the success of Quantum Valley Lower Saxony cannot be measured by numbers alone.
It goes far beyond the €310M+ we have secured, or the 15+ quantum startups that have emerged from our ecosystem and are now establishing themselves internationally, among them QUDORA Technologies, QubeDot GmbH, CDO2, and Agile Optic.
At its core, our work is driven by a simple belief: innovation happens when the right people are connected in the right way.
By building and nurturing these connections, we are advancing one of the most powerful and disruptive technologies of our time: quantum technology.
We are honored to welcome confirmed speakers, including:
Belit Onay, Lord Mayor of the City of Hannover
Engelbert Beyer, Ministerialdirigent at BMFTR (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung), Head of Sub-Division Key Technologies
Joachim Schachtner, State Secretary, Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture (Niedersächsisches Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur)
Georg Schütte, Secretary General, Volkswagen Foundation (VolkswagenStiftung)
Benedikt Hüppe, Managing Director, Unternehmerverbände Niedersachsen (UVN | Unternehmerverbände Niedersachsen)
Volker Epping, President, Leibniz Universität Hannover
Markus Henke, Vice-President, Technische Universität Braunschweig
alongside representatives from leading industry and research institutions.
Looking forward to an inspiring exchange with leaders from science, industry, and policy.
