A warm welcome to all new association members that we were able to welcome to QVLS e.V. in the past year 2024, especially to the technology service provider TÜV NORD GROUP, the business development company of the state capital and region of Hanover hannoverimpuls and the Bank der deutschen Länder Niedersachsen und Sachsen-Anhalt NORD/LB!

TÜV NORD GROUP

With over 10,000 employees in more than 70 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, the TÜV NORD GROUP is actively committed to its national and international customers. The broad consulting, service and testing portfolio includes specific individual tests and inspections as well as the management of complex safety solutions.

TÜV NORD GROUP and Leibniz Universität Hannover are jointly researching tap-proof satellite communication. Personal data is constantly being transmitted digitally – whether logging into a social media account, transferring money via online banking, or making a phone call using a smartphone or landline. Scientists are researching new, tap-proof encryption methods to protect the privacy of users as well as public authorities and companies from criminal access to passwords, email addresses and other data. This is because with the advent of quantum computers, which have significantly higher data processing rates than conventional computer systems, the digital encryption methods currently used can be decrypted and will no longer be secure in the foreseeable future.

The Institute of Photonics (IOP) at Leibniz Universität Hannover and ALTER TECHNOLOGY TÜV NORD have decided to cooperate in research to close this security gap. The TÜV NORD associations TÜV NORD e.V. and TÜV Hannover/Sachsen-Anhalt e.V., two shareholders of the TÜV NORD Group, are supporting the project over a period of three to four years with an annual grant of 100,000 euros.

hannoverimpuls

With its services and projects, the joint economic development agency of the state capital and Hannover Region supports entrepreneurial commitment and actively helps to shape the future of a modern economic region in Hannover.

In order to ensure the sustainable development of the Hannover Region, a closely supervised and timely transfer of knowledge and technology from projects whose results will have a foreseeable influence on economic development is required. Against this background, hannoverimpuls’ membership of QVLS e.V. is not only of great interest to the company and the association, but also to the regional economy, as it enables the achievements of quantum technologies to be transferred to companies in the Hannover Region in line with demand.

QUDORA Technologies

QUDORA Technologies is a deep-tech spin-off of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and Leibniz Universität Hannover, which emerged from the activities surrounding the Quantum Valley Lower Saxony research project.
The aim of QUDORA is to bring quantum processors based on the promising ion trap technology to the market. To this end, QUDORA cooperates with the PTB in the field of microfabrication, which enables the rapid and highly individualized production of quantum processors for external customers.
QUDORA’s long-term vision is to proactively pool the Braunschweig-Hanover region’s traditionally high level of expertise in the field of laser development and quantum optics in order to make a self-developed quantum computer based on ion trap technology commercially available.
