TIME concert and lecture series „TIME“ in Braunschweig, Göttingen and Hannover

Our life is but a shadow, but our clocks would still be accurate millions of years from now: On 13, 14 and 15 June, Braunschweig, Göttingen and Hanover will show how differently science and society view time. In the TIME concert and lecture series, researchers from the QuantumFrontiers Cluster of Excellence will meet singers from the Braunschweig Young Chamber Choir.

There is probably no other quantum physics technology that has more influence on physics than high-precision clocks, and at the same time, literally permeates people’s everyday lives around the clock. Nevertheless, most people remain unaware of what is being researched with the utmost precision in the laboratories in Braunschweig and Hanover. After all, counting in femtoseconds is irrelevant for everyday life, right? In keeping with the International Year of Quantum Physics and Technology, the researchers and singers bring together different perspectives on time. The programme combines short, popular science lectures with a capella pieces ranging from early baroque to contemporary compositions.

The entrance is free.

The Young Chamber Choir Braunschweig

Since its foundation in 2013, the Young Chamber Choir Braunschweig (JKC) has developed into one of the most renowned chamber choirs in the Hanover-Braunschweig-Göttingen metropolitan region. The ensemble, which comes together for three to five concert projects each year, can already look back on considerable success – including a first prize at the German Choir Competition 2023. Although the JKC feels particularly at home in the contemporary repertoire, its concert programmes are conceived more in terms of content than style. Audiences and critics alike appreciate the impressive versatility and tangible emotionality that the JKC is able to present in its concerts.
