From 8 to 12 September 2025, the 2nd DPG Fall Meeting took place at the Georg-August University in Göttingen. Framed within the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025, the conference brought together leading researchers, industry representatives, and the wider public to celebrate the past, present, and future of quantum science.
Quantum Valley Lower Saxony was present throughout the week with a booth at the industrial and book exhibition. The exhibition served as a lively meeting point where companies, research institutions, and young scientists exchanged ideas about the latest developments in the field.
On Wednesday, the official Industry Day, this dialogue became even more prominent. Nicolas Spethmann (QTZ) took on the role of chairman for one of the sessions, fostering conversations on how cutting-edge research can find its way into real-world applications.
The highlight for QVLS came on Thursday, when Lena Bittermann gave a talk titled “Quantum Valley Lower Saxony – An ecosystem for quantum technologies.” In her presentation, she introduced the vision behind QVLS and its concrete activities to build a strong quantum ecosystem in Lower Saxony. By highlighting the close ties between academia and industry in the clusters4future QVLS-iLabs, she showed how QVLS is creating the conditions for future quantum technologies to emerge and thrive.

The conference reaffirmed Göttingen’s role as the birthplace of quantum mechanics and underlined how vibrant and forward-looking the field remains today. With its combination of historical reflection, cutting-edge research, and industry engagement, the 2025 Fall Meeting served as a reminder that the story of quantum physics is still being written—and that QVLS is proud to be driving this chapter forward.
